If you get in an accident, your car will incur some damage. You don't want to leave that damage on your vehicle for very long, even if it is primarily cosmetic. The damage to your car can let moisture get under the paint and to the body or the chassis. That will let corrosion get to your car, and you can end up with rust spots under the paint. Before you take your car to any collision center, you need to do a few things to be sure you are taking your car to the right place.  

Get an Estimate

You need to get an estimate before you get any work done. You may be able to get a rough estimate by calling the collision center, but you want a detailed estimate, and you want it in writing. The only way that you can get that is to take your car to the shop and let them look over it. The techs may find damage you didn't know about, which will influence how much you will have to pay to get your car repaired. Make sure to get it in writing so that you can compare other quotes you may get from other collision centers. Having it in writing also ensures there are fewer misunderstandings when hiring a shop to do the work. 

Loaner Car

If your car will be in the shop for a few days, you may still need to have a way to get around. Talk to the collision center to see if they have loaner cars you can use while your car is in the shop. Ask them to include any fees for a loaner car in the quote so that you know any costs ahead of time. You should also talk to your insurance company to see if they will cover a loaner car for you while your car is down and getting worked on.
